Brass

Repertoire and studies will be assigned to each student appropriate for his or her individual talents and interests. However, a set of common objective standards ensure that each student is enrolled in the appropriate level of lessons.

Level 1
  • Scale patterns, level 1 (Treble clef, Bass clef). Each key must be performed in under 4 minutes.
  • One solo, performed with accompaniment in a studio class and on the final jury.
  • Sight reading.
Level 2
  • Scale patterns, level 2 (Treble clef, Bass clef). Each key must be performed in under 4 minutes.
  • Two solos, performed with accompaniment during studio class. One solo will be performed on the final jury.
  • Sight reading.
Level 3
  • Scale patterns, level 3 (Treble clef, Bass clef). Each key must be performed in under 4 minutes.
  • One multi-movement concerto or sonata, performed in its entirety with accompaniment during studio class. Representative segments will be performed on the final jury.
  • Sight reading.
Level 4
  • 30-minute solo recital performed for a public audience.
